Prana, Chi, Ki, Life Force, ‘The Force’. Every culture has a way of describing a kind of universal energy. Often intangible – even inexplicable – but always present.
There may come a time in your life when your body has simply had enough. Perhaps you’ve been subjected to a constant barrage of ongoing stress, experienced a particularly sudden and intensely stressful situation or have come to accept negative beliefs and thoughts that are bogging down your entire being. In such cases, the body’s self-regulating mechanisms can no longer do their jobs, resulting in a decline in the health of your body, mind and soul.
The spiritual healing art of Reiki works by channeling positive energy into your body, with Reiki masters and practitioners typically placing their hands on the affected areas of the body that need a boost, offering this energy and your body takes in the energy where most needed.
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.
Reiki is usually performed on a client who is reclined comfortably on a massage table, fully clothed. At your option, Reiki may be done with a light gentle pressure static touch or my hands may be a few inches/centimeters above your body at the hand positions with no actual touch. There are standard hand placements beginning at your head or feet, avoiding all sensitive body parts. Usually a session is done without talking and I usually have some soft ambient music playing in the background to aid in your relaxation.
Most clients feel a sense of relaxation and peace. The mind may feel calm and your physical body should feel relaxed. Reiki is so relaxing that sometimes clients may fall asleep during the session. Don’t worry though, you will still receive all of the benefits of the session, sleeping or awake.
